Mt Cook Moon Halo - Twilight
Fine Art Print
A Moon halo hovers over Mt Cook during a crisp twilight. The 22 degree halo around the moon is due to refraction in tiny hexagonal ice crystals in the atmosphere. The shape of the crystals are uniform enough to refract the light like a prism at a consistent 22 degree angle and cause a fairly concentrated halo of light.
